C4K's 29th annual Good Start Back to School project in August will help about 2600 specific students from low-income families in the 2024-2025 school year with backpacks and school supplies for home use. This is a 36% increase from last year. Their backgrounds vary. Some are refugees from Ukraine or certain countries in Central America and elsewhere, escaping war and/or violence. Some are escaping domestic violence here. Many are homeless; all are struggling to make ends meet. These backpacks and school supplies provide a lifeline to normalcy.
Congregations for Kids, a coalition of local congregations, helps students from low income families within the Bellevue, Washington School District have a Good Start Back to School. Partnering with the school district, Eastside businesses, and community organizations, we equip these students with backpacks and supplies needed for the school year.
